HOUSE BILL 155
AN ACT relative to responses by law enforcement officers when traveling outside their jurisdictions.
ANALYSIS
This bill grants a law enforcement officer traveling outside of his or her jurisdiction the authority to take certain actions if he or she observes a crime or serious motor vehicle violation or a life safety incident which may cause serious injury or death.

STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE
In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Three
AN ACT relative to responses by law enforcement officers when traveling outside their jurisdictions.
Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:
1 New Chapter; Responses to Incidents in Other Jurisdictions. Amend RSA by inserting after chapter 106-H the following new chapter:
CHAPTER 106-I
RESPONSES TO INCIDENTS IN OTHER JURISDICTIONS
106-I:1 Responses to Incidents in Other Jurisdictions. A law enforcement officer traveling outside his or her jurisdiction who observes a crime or serious motor vehicle violation or a life safety incident which may cause serious injury or death shall have the authority to take actions to prevent injury or the continuation of the criminal activity or serious motor vehicle violation. Such authority shall have the same scope and protections that are afforded the law enforcement officer in his or her jurisdiction.
2 Effective Date. This act shall take effect January 1, 2004.
