AN ACT extending the committee to study the exemption from property taxes for not-for-profit hospitals, and including a study of the community benefit law.

STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Three

AN ACT extending the committee to study the exemption from property taxes for not-for-profit hospitals, and including a study of the community benefit law.

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

45:1 Committee to Study the Exemption From Property Taxes for Not-for-profit Hospitals; Duty Added. Amend 2002, 121:3 to read as follows:

121:3 Duties. The committee shall study:

I. The exemption from property taxes for not-for-profit hospitals, including the process for review of their status by municipalities.

II. Whether to return no less than 30 percent of the hospital's savings from its not-for-profit status to the appropriate community for the use of pharmaceuticals for elderly and low-income persons, and how such plans would be negotiated.

III. The community benefits law.

IV. Any other matter deemed relevant by the committee.

45:2 Study Extended. Amend 2002, 121:5 to read as follows:

121:5 Report. The committee shall report its findings and any recommendations for proposed legislation to the speaker of the house of representatives, the senate president, the house clerk, the senate clerk, the governor, and the state library on or before November 1, [2002] 2003.

45:3 Effective Date. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
