AN ACT relative to the deadline for implementing a statewide voter checklist.

STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Three

AN ACT relative to the deadline for implementing a statewide voter checklist.

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

1 Statewide Voter Checklist; Deadline. The secretary of state shall implement, in a uniform and nondiscriminatory manner, a single, uniform, official, centralized, interactive computerized statewide voter registration list, as required by section 303 of the Help America Vote Act of 2002, Public Law 107-252. Implementation shall be completed by January 1, 2004. The secretary of state is hereby prohibited from certifying that the state will not meet the deadline for good cause, absent specific future statutory authorization for such certification by the general court.

2 Effective Date. This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
