AN ACT relative to sentences for first time offenders.

STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Three

AN ACT relative to sentences for first time offenders.

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

1 New Paragraph; Sentences and Limitations. Amend RSA 651:2 by inserting after paragraph VIII the following new paragraph:

IX. The court shall have the discretion to impose a reduced sentence to defendants who have been convicted of a nonviolent first offense.

2 Effective Date. This act shall take effect January 1, 2004.
