AN ACT relative to qualifications of elected town officers.

This bill allows an elected town officer who changes domicile to remain in office for the duration of his or her term, but prevents his or her reelection.

STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Three

AN ACT relative to qualifications of elected town officers.

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

1 Qualifications of Officers. Amend RSA 669:6 to read as follows:

669:6 Qualification of Officers. Unless otherwise provided by law, no person shall hold an elective town office who does not have his or her domicile within the town. If an elected town officer changes domicile to another town during his or her term, such officer shall be allowed to complete his or her term but shall not be eligible for reelection.

2 Effective Date. This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
