AN ACT relative to expungement of records of protective orders.

This bill allows a defendant to petition the court for expungement of records of a domestic violence protective order after expiration of the order.

STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Three

AN ACT relative to expungement of records of protective orders.

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

1 New Section; Domestic Violence Protective Orders; Expungement. Amend RSA 173-B by inserting after section 13 the following new section:

173-B:13-a Expungement. A defendant may petition the court for expungement of the record of any protective order issued under this chapter against the defendant at any time after the expiration of the order.

2 Effective Date. This act shall take effect January 1, 2004.
