AN ACT relative to a necessary quorum in town elections for motions to reconsider after voting polls have been open a period of more than 4 hours.

STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Three

AN ACT relative to a necessary quorum in town elections for motions to reconsider after voting polls have been open a period of more than 4 hours.

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

1 New Section; Required Quorum for Motion to Reconsider. Amend RSA 40 by inserting after section 9 the following new section:

40:9-a Required Quorum for Reconsideration. If a town has conducted a vote for which the polls were open for a period longer than 4 hours, approval of a motion for reconsideration shall require a quorum of no fewer than a number of voters equal to 50 percent of those who initially voted.

2 Effective Date. This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
