HB 1213 FISCAL NOTE

AN ACT exempting persons age 70 and older from the state and local education portion of property taxes.

FISCAL IMPACT:

The Department of Revenue Administration indicates state education trust fund and local revenue will decrease by an indeterminable amount in FY 2005 and each year thereafter. There will be no fiscal impact on county revenue and state, county and local expenditures.

METHODOLOGY:

The Department of Revenue Administration states this bill stipulates that any person 70 or older shall be exempt from payment of state and local property taxes that are designated for education on their primary residence. The Department indicates they do not have information to determine age and property value, therefor, the Department cannot determine the fiscal impact of this legislation.
