In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Four
AN ACT requiring school districts to recommend daily physical activity to pupils.

33:1 Statement of Purpose. The general court finds that:
I. The most recent information available indicates that there is a strong relationship between physical activity and academic success.

III. It is beneficial to promote daily physical activity, the enjoyment of physical activity, and the development of lifelong patterns of physical activity.
33:2 New Paragraphs; School Boards; Food and Nutrition Programs; Daily Physical Activity. Amend RSA 189:11-a by inserting after paragraph IV the following new paragraphs:
V. The school board of each school district shall develop and adopt a policy recommending that all pupils participate in developmentally appropriate daily physical activity, exercise, or physical education as a way to minimize the health risks created by chronic inactivity, childhood obesity, and other related health problems.
VI. The state board of education shall adopt rules, pursuant to RSA 541-A, relative to a model physical activity policy and distribute such policy to each public school in the state.
33:3 Effective Date. This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
