AN ACT relative to tolls for disabled veterans.

ANALYSIS

This bill provides that disabled veterans with special license plates shall be exempt from paying tolls on the New Hampshire turnpike system.

STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Four

AN ACT relative to tolls for disabled veterans.

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

1 New Subparagraph; Exemption From Tolls; Disabled Veterans. Amend RSA 237:12 by inserting after subparagraph (d) the following new subparagraph:

(e) Motor vehicles bearing plates issued to disabled veterans as authorized under RSA 261:86, I(a) and (b).

2 Special Number Plates for Certain Veterans; Exemption From Tolls. Amend RSA 261:86, II to read as follows:

II. Plates furnished pursuant to subparagraphs I(a)-(c) shall be issued without charge. Plates furnished pursuant to subparagraphs I(d) and (e) shall be issued upon payment of the regular registration and number plate fees. Notwithstanding RSA 265:73 or any other law, any person who is issued a plate pursuant to subparagraphs I(c)-(e) shall not be entitled to free parking privileges or to free passage over the New Hampshire turnpike system provided for disabled veterans.

3 Effective Date. This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
