SENATE BILL 346
AN ACT relative to prohibiting the operation of snowmobiles on open water.
ANALYSIS
This bill prohibits the operation of a snowmobile on open water, also known as “skimming.”
This bill is a request of the fish and game department.

STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE
In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Four
AN ACT relative to prohibiting the operation of snowmobiles on open water.
Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:
53:1 New Section; Snowmobile Operation on Open Water Prohibited. Amend RSA 215-A by inserting after section 5-a the following new section:
215-A:5-b Operation on Open Water Prohibited. No person shall knowingly operate a snow traveling vehicle on open water, also known as skimming. For the purpose of this section, “open water” means any area of an inland water body that is free of ice and snow. This section shall not apply to events as permitted pursuant to RSA 215-A:30.
53:2 Effective Date. This act shall take effect January 1, 2005.
