AN ACT relative to notification of cancellation of insurance coverage.

ANALYSIS

This bill requires insurers to notify third parties to whom proof of insurance has been provided if such insurance has been cancelled for any reason.

STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Four

AN ACT relative to notification of cancellation of insurance coverage.

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

1 New Section; Notification of Cancellation to Third Parties Required. Amend RSA 400-A by inserting after section 39 the following new section:

400-A:39-a Notification of Cancellation to Third Parties Required. If a certificate of insurance has been provided to a third party for proof of insurance, the insurer shall notify, within 10 days, such third party if the insurance has been cancelled for any reason. The commissioner may adopt rules, pursuant to RSA 541-A, relative to the manner and form of such notices.

2 Effective Date. This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
