STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Four

AN ACT relative to record books maintained by registers of deeds.

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

60:1 Record Books; Methods Added. Amend RSA 478:5 to read as follows:

478:5 Record Books. Immediately upon receipt of any deed or instrument for record, the register of deeds shall enter in [separate columns in a book kept by him and open to inspection] an acceptable recording method the time when each is received, the names of the grantors and grantees and of the town in which the land conveyed or affected is situate, and, after recording it, the name of the person to whom it is delivered. In addition to or in lieu of other recording methods, the register of deeds may cause the originals of documents filed [with him] to be photographed and preserved on microfilm [or], optical disk, or [both] other media as determined by the register.

60:2 Effective Date. This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
