STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Six

AN ACT relative to creating county commissioner districts in Strafford county.

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

1 County Commissioner Districts; Strafford County Removed. Amend the introductory paragraph of RSA 662:4 to read as follows:

662:4 County Commissioner Districts. [Except for Strafford county where 3 county commissioners shall be elected at large,] For the purposes of choosing county commissioners, the counties shall be divided into districts as follows:

2 Strafford County Commissioner Districts Established. Amend RSA 662:4, IX to read as follows:

IX. Strafford: District 1, the town of Rollinsford and the cities of Dover and Somersworth; District 2, the towns of Middleton, Milton, and New Durham, and the city of Rochester; District 3, the towns of Barrington, Durham, Farmington, Lee, Madbury, and Strafford.

X. Sullivan: District 1, the city of Claremont; District 2, the towns of Cornish, Croyden, Grantham, Newport, Plainfield, and Springfield; District 3, the towns of Acworth, Charlestown, Goshen, Langdon, Lempster, Sunapee, Unity, and Washington.

3 Strafford County; Election of County Commissioners. Amend RSA 653:1, VI(a) to read as follows:

(a) Grafton [and], Hillsborough, and Strafford counties, one county commissioner by those voters in each county commissioner district in each county;

4 Repeal. RSA 653:1, VI(c), relative to the election of county commissioners in Strafford county, is repealed.

5 Effective Date. This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
