AN ACT relative to distributing sexual offender registry information.

STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Six

AN ACT relative to distributing sexual offender registry information.

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

1 Registration of Criminal Offenders; Availability of Information to the Public. Amend RSA 651-B:7, IV(b) to read as follows:

(b) At the discretion of the governing body, the police chief of a municipality, or other individual in charge of a local law enforcement agency, may distribute information concerning any individual who has been convicted under RSA 632-A:2 or RSA 632-A:3 and who is required to be registered under this chapter, to any interested resident of such municipality. The police chief shall define the geographical limits of distributing such information and shall provide a monthly report to the governing body detailing all information distributed during the month.

(c) Local law enforcement agencies may photograph, at the time of the registration, any individual who is required to be registered pursuant to this chapter. The consent of the registrant shall not be necessary. Such photographs may be used in the performance of any valid law enforcement function.

2 Effective Date. This act shall take effect January 1, 2007.
