AN ACT making an appropriation for design and engineering costs for the expansion of the northern New Hampshire correctional facility and for the design, engineering, and construction of a minimum security building at the northern New Hampshire correctional facility.

This bill appropriates $300,000 to the department of administrative services for design and engineering costs of expanding the northern New Hampshire correctional facility to accommodate an additional 500 inmates. The bill also appropriates $100,000 to the department of corrections for the design, engineering, and construction of a minimum security building at the northern New Hampshire correctional facility.

STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE
In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Six
AN ACT making an appropriation for design and engineering costs for the expansion of the northern New Hampshire correctional facility and for the design, engineering, and construction of a minimum security building at the northern New Hampshire correctional facility.
Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:
1 Expansion of the Northern New Hampshire Correctional Facility; Appropriation for Designed Engineering. The sum of $300,000, for the biennium ending June 30, 2007, is hereby appropriated to the department of administrative services for the design and engineering costs of expanding the northern New Hampshire correctional facility in the city of Berlin to accommodate an additional 500 inmates. The governor is authorized to draw a warrant for said sum out of any money in the treasury not otherwise appropriated.
2 Northern New Hampshire Correctional Facility; Construction of Minimum Security Building. The sum of $100,000, for the biennium ending June 30, 2007, is hereby appropriated to the department of corrections for the design, engineering, and construction of a minimum security building at the northern New Hampshire correctional facility in the city of Berlin. The governor is authorized to draw a warrant for said sum out of any money in the treasury not otherwise appropriated.
3 Effective Date. This act shall take effect upon its passage.

FISCAL IMPACT:
The Office of Legislative Budget Assistant is unable to complete a fiscal note for this bill as it is awaiting information from the Department of Administrative Services. The LBA has been waiting 5 weeks for the Department to reply. Bill introduction and scheduling commitments do not allow us to wait any longer. When completed, the fiscal note will be forwarded to the House Clerk's Office.
