STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE
In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Six
A RESOLUTION commending the New Hampshire Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve.
Whereas, more than one million Americans and thousands of New Hampshire citizens serve in the National Guard and military reserves; and
Whereas, these brave men and women place themselves in harm’s way, leave their families, and put their careers on hold to preserve freedom and defend the nation; and
Whereas, when reservists and guard members are called to active duty, federal law guarantees that their civilian jobs will be held open for them until they return; and
Whereas, on those occasions when an employer refuses to honor this provision, the New Hampshire Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve steps in as an ombudsman to mediate between the parties; and
Whereas, the actions of the New Hampshire Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve have proven successful, with many recent cases closed successfully; and
Whereas, the New Hampshire Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve has encouraged and received an extraordinary level of support from the employers of men and women who serve in the Guard and Reserve; and
Whereas, on average, more than 4,300 New Hampshire reservists and guardmembers from 50 Reserve and Guard units in 200 New Hampshire communities are serving the nation, and the 60 members of the ESGR program in New Hampshire work to protect their rights; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the general court hereby commends the New Hampshire Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve for its valuable and ongoing work on behalf of New Hampshire’s reservists and guard members; and
That the house clerk prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Ernest F. Loomis, state chair of the New Hampshire Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, as an expression of the general court’s appreciation for the exceptional work of the ESGR program.
