SENATE BILL 260
AN ACT relative to certification of a registered nurse responsible for emergency medical transportation.
ANALYSIS
This bill permits a registered nurse certified in either emergency nursing or critical care nursing to be responsible for a patient during an inter-facility transfer under certain circumstances.

STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE
In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Six
AN ACT relative to certification of a registered nurse responsible for emergency medical transportation.
Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:
114:1 Emergency Medical and Trauma Services; Certification of Registered Nurse Responsible for Inter-Facility Transfer. Amend RSA 153-A:16, III to read as follows:
III. If a physician determines that an inter-facility transfer of a recognized critical access hospital patient is urgent and the availability of 2 licensed emergency medical services providers exceeds 30 minutes, then a registered nurse certified in emergency nursing or critical care nursing, an emergency physician, or an emergency physician assistant may act as the responsible provider for the patient during the transfer, provided that each is certified in advanced cardiac life support and has completed a bureau of emergency medical services inter-facility training module.
114:2 Effective Date. This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
