SENATE BILL 95-LOCAL
AN ACT relative to noise from motor vehicles.
ANALYSIS
This bill prohibits motor vehicles from emitting loud, unnecessary, unusual, or unreasonable noise, including sound system noise, when operated upon a public way.

STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE
In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Five
AN ACT relative to noise from motor vehicles.
Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:
1 New Paragraph; Muffler; Prevention of Noise; Other Motor Vehicle Noise. Amend RSA 266:59 by inserting after paragraph III the following new paragraph:
IV. Motor vehicles shall not emit loud, unnecessary, unusual, or unreasonable noise when operated upon a public way. Unreasonable noise shall include noise emanating from a vehicle sound system that can be plainly heard from a distance of 50 feet or more from the vehicle.
2 Effective Date. This act shall take effect January 1, 2006.
