AN ACT requiring the commissioner of the department of health and human services to apply for public and private grant funding for drug and alcohol rehabilitation programs.
ANALYSIS
This bill requires the commissioner of the department of health and human services to apply for public and private grant funds, and any other funds which may be available, for drug and alcohol rehabilitation treatment programs and for the construction or renovation of facilities for such programs.

STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE
In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Seven
AN ACT requiring the commissioner of the department of health and human services to apply for public and private grant funding for drug and alcohol rehabilitation programs.
Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:
1 New Paragraph; Commissioner of Health and Human Services. Amend RSA 126-A:5 by inserting after paragraph XV the following new paragraph:
XVI. The commissioner shall apply for public and private grant funds, and any other funds which may be available, for drug and alcohol rehabilitation treatment programs and for the construction or renovation of facilities for inpatient and outpatient treatment, and halfway houses for such programs. The commissioner shall ensure that he or she has sufficient personnel to apply for not less than 10 grants per fiscal year. The commissioner shall expend such funds, if received, as directed under this paragraph.
2 Effective Date. This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
