AN ACT relative to the reporting of municipal liens in consumer reports.
ANALYSIS
This bill requires consumer reporting agencies to exercise reasonable diligence to verify the accuracy of municipal liens and to report a lien release on a credit report within one year of the recording of the lien release with the registry of deeds.

STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE
In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Seven
AN ACT relative to the reporting of municipal liens in consumer reports.
Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:
1 New Paragraph; Consumer Credit Reporting; Compliance Procedures; Municipal Liens. Amend RSA 359-B:7 by inserting after paragraph II the following new paragraph:
III. The consumer reporting agency shall exercise reasonable diligence when conducting a search for all municipal liens, including property tax, welfare, and utility liens. The consumer reporting agency shall conduct an additional search for related municipal lien releases and shall report a lien release in the consumer report within one year of the recording of the lien release at the registry of deeds.
2 Effective Date. This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
