STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Seven

AN ACT relative to the definition of an adequate education.

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

1 New Section; Adequate Public Education; Definition of an Adequate Education. Amend RSA 193-E by inserting after section 2 the following new section:

193-E:2-a Schools Providing an Adequate Education. A school shall be deemed to be providing an adequate education when such school:

I. Meets the state-funded portions of the New Hampshire minimum standards for school approval without conditions;

II. Satisfies state assessment and accountability requirements pursuant to RSA 193-H;

III. Includes the state curriculum frameworks explicitly in its school curriculum;

IV. Promotes the study of agriculture, arts, sciences, commerce, trades, manufactures, and the natural history of the country;

V. Meets applicable fire and safety codes; and

VI. Complies with state special education statutes.

2 Effective Date. This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
