SENATE BILL 171

AN ACT relative to regulation of apprenticeships by professional regulatory boards and commissions.

STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Seven

AN ACT relative to regulation of apprenticeships by professional regulatory boards and commissions.

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

1 Apprenticeship Programs in Trade and Industry. Amend RSA 278:10 to read as follows:

278:10 Applicability of Chapter. The provisions of this chapter shall apply to a person, firm, corporation, or organization of employees or an association of employers only after such person, firm, corporation, or organization of employees or association of employers has voluntarily elected to conform with its provisions. The provisions of this chapter shall not apply to apprenticeship programs administered by regulatory boards and commissions under title XXX.

2 New Section; General Administration of Regulatory Boards And Commissions. Amend RSA 332-G by inserting after section 6 the following new section:

332-G:7 Apprentice Programs. Boards or commissions authorized by statute to administer an apprenticeship program shall have the sole authority to regulate apprentices and apprenticeships within the board’s or commission’s regulated profession.

3 Effective Date. This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
