SENATE BILL 203
AN ACT relative to the use of the English language in writs and other court documents.
ANALYSIS
This bill establishes that writs and other court documents need not be in the English language when use of the English language is deemed to interfere with needs of the justice system.
This bill was requested by the supreme court.

STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE
In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Seven
AN ACT relative to the use of the English language in writs and other court documents.
Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:
1 Writs; English Language to be Used. Amend RSA 509:1 to read as follows:
509:1 English Language to be Used. Writs, declarations, processes, indictments, answers, pleadings and entries of record in the courts shall be in the English language, and in no other except when deemed to interfere with needs of the justice system.
2 Effective Date. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
