STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Eight

AN ACT requiring the department of education to develop a plan to educate school personnel to recognize stress-related issues in children whose parents have served in Iraq or Afghanistan.

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

1 New Paragraph; State Board of Education; Duties. Amend RSA 186:11 by inserting after paragraph XXXVI the following new paragraph:

XXXVII. STRESS CAUSED BY MILITARY SERVICE. Develop and distribute to school districts a plan to educate school personnel in recognizing and responding to stress and stress-related behavior in a child who has had a parent or other significant adult in the child’s life serve in Iraq or Afghanistan. Such plan may be implemented at the discretion of the school district.

2 Effective Date. This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
