HB 570 FISCAL NOTE

AN ACT increasing the fee for a wild turkey hunting license.

FISCAL IMPACT:

The Fish and Game Department states this bill will increase state fish and game revenue by $134,470 in FY 2008 and each year thereafter. This bill will have no fiscal impact on state, county, and local expenditures, or county and local revenue

METHODOLOGY:

The Fish and Game Department states this bill increases the turkey license fee from $5 to $15. Based on license sales trend data as a result of the 2005 fee increase for black bear permits, the Department estimates a reduction of 272 resident permits for each $1 of the fee increase. Therefore, the Department estimates there would be about 2,720 less resident turkey permits sold as a result of this bill. The estimated fiscal impact is as follows:

FY 2008

& Thereafter

Current Resident Permits 17,527

Decrease in Permits due to fee increase (2,720)

Total Estimated Resident Permits after fee increase 14,807

Current Fee Revenue (17,527 permits X $5) $87,635

New Fee Revenue (14,807 permits X $15) $222,105

Net Increase in Fee Revenue $134,470
