STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE
In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Eight
A RESOLUTION urging the United States Department of Defense and Congress to restore full services to the Manchester Veterans Administration Hospital.
Whereas, 7 years ago the Manchester Veterans Administration Hospital discontinued many of the inpatient and outpatient care services that it had previously offered; and
Whereas, New Hampshire is the only state without a full-service veterans hospital; and
Whereas, there are over 120,000 veterans currently residing in New Hampshire; and
Whereas, sick and elderly New Hampshire veterans must travel to the Boston area and to Vermont for medical care; and
Whereas, these veterans have difficulty finding transportation to out-of-state appointments, endure long waits for medical attention, and receive insufficient mileage reimbursements for their travels; and
Whereas, New Hampshire’s veterans deserve the same level of care as veterans in the rest of the country; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:
That the New Hampshire general court urges the United States Department of Defense and the United States Congress to restore full service to the Manchester Veterans Administration Hospital; and
That copies of this resolution be sent by the senate clerk to the Secretary of the Department of Defense and to each member of the New Hampshire congressional delegation.
