AN ACT relative to funding the law requiring reporting of hospital infections.
AMENDED ANALYSIS
This bill requires the department of health and human services to assess a fee on each hospital required to report hospital infections based upon the percentage of the hospital’s inpatient census to fund the requirements of the hospital infection reporting law.

STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE
In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Nine
AN ACT relative to funding the law requiring reporting of hospital infections.
Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:
159:1 New Section; Hospital Fee. Amend RSA 151 by inserting after section 35 the following new section:
151:36 Hospital Fee. Any hospital required to report infections pursuant to this subdivision shall include, in its reports to the department, its inpatient census. The department shall assess a fee upon each hospital required to report under this subdivision based upon the percentage of the hospital’s inpatient census, which fee shall be used to fund the requirements of this subdivision. The department shall adopt rules, pursuant to RSA 541-A, relative to a payment schedule and a rate adequate to fund the requirements of this subdivision for each fiscal year. For the purposes of this section, “inpatient census” means the average number of inpatients per year for each hospital.
159:2 Effective Date. This act shall take effect July 1, 2009.
