STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE
In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Nine
AN ACT limiting charges against estates for assessing the value of insurance policies and annuities.
Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:
1 New Section; Assessment of Certain Insurance Policies and Annuities. Amend RSA 554 by inserting after section 16 the following new section:
554:16-a Assessment of Certain Insurance Policies and Annuities. When assessing whole life insurance policies and annuities for the purposes of value to an estate, the issuing company shall set the value of such policies or annuities. If a third party is called upon to assess the value of such property, the estate shall not be charged for the services of the third party.
2 Effective Date. This act shall take effect January 1, 2010.
