This bill requires the commissioner of the department of safety to develop and furnish to the cities and towns of the state guidelines which may be used by local law enforcement agencies for providing neighborhood notification of the release of a sexual offender to residents living in the neighborhood in which the offender will reside.

STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Ten

AN ACT establishing guidelines for neighborhood notification upon release of a sexual offender.

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

1 New Paragraph; Guidelines for Neighborhood Notification. Amend RSA 651-B:7 by inserting after paragraph VI the following new paragraph:

VII. The commissioner of the department, no later than 6 months after the effective date of this paragraph, shall develop and furnish to the cities and towns of the state guidelines which may be used by local law enforcement agencies for providing neighborhood notification of the release of an offender, to residents living in the neighborhood in which the offender will reside.

2 Effective Date. This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
