AN ACT relative to responsibilities of parents of certain minors.

ANALYSIS

This bill declares that the parents of both minors involved in a pregnancy out of wedlock shall be responsible for the costs of the pregnancy and the birth and rearing of the child until the biological parents reach the age of 18.

STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Twelve

AN ACT relative to responsibilities of parents of certain minors.

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

1 New Subdivision; Responsibilities of Parents of Certain Minors. Amend RSA 132 by inserting after section 36 the following new subdivision:

Responsibilities of Parents of Certain Minors

132:37 Responsibilities of Parents of Certain Minors. The parents of both the male and female minors involved in a pregnancy out of wedlock shall be equally responsible for the medical costs associated with the pregnancy, birth, and rearing of the child until one or both biological parents reaches 18 years of age or becomes emancipated at which time responsibility for the child shall be transferred.

2 Effective Date. This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
