STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Fourteen

AN ACT establishing a civil right of action for victims of human trafficking.

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

1 New Paragraph; Human Trafficking Victims; Civil Action Available. Amend RSA 633:10 by inserting after paragraph IV the following new paragraph:

V. A victim of a violation of this subdivision may commence a civil cause of action for compensatory and punitive damages against the trafficker and his or her co-conspirators for harm that resulted from the violation regardless of whether the trafficker was prosecuted or convicted. This cause of action may be in addition to any other cause of action the victim has against the trafficker and his or her co-conspirators.

2 Effective Date. This act shall take effect January 1, 2015.
