HOUSE BILL 1336

AN ACT relative to the landlord’s agent requirement.

AMENDED ANALYSIS

This bill enables municipalities to fine landlords who do not provide the city or town clerk with contact information for an agent authorized to accept service on behalf of the owner of the property.

STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Fourteen

AN ACT relative to the landlord’s agent requirement.

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

1 New Paragraph; Landlord’s Agent Required. Amend RSA 540:1-b by inserting after paragraph IV the following new paragraph:

V. A municipality may, pursuant to its bylaws or ordinances, establish and collect a $500 fine for the failure of an owner of restricted property to comply with the requirements of this section. 2 Effective Date. This act shall take effect January 1, 2015.
