STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE
In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Fifteen
AN ACT relative to the definition of deadly force.
Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:
1 Justification; Definition of Deadly Force. Amend RSA 627:9, II to read as follows:
II. “Deadly force” means any assault or confinement which the actor commits [with the purpose of causing or which he knows to create a substantial risk of causing death or serious bodily injury. Purposely firing a firearm capable of causing serious bodily injury or death in the direction of another person or at a vehicle in which another is believed to be constitutes deadly force] which results in death or permanent loss or impairment of any part of the body.
2 Effective Date. This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
