AN ACT relative to the care and custody of female prisoners.

STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Fifteen

AN ACT relative to the care and custody of female prisoners.

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

18:1 Interagency Coordinating Council for Women Offenders. Amend RSA 21-H:14-c, II(a)(6) to read as follows:

(6) The warden of the [state prison] New Hampshire correctional facility for women.

18:2 Interagency Coordinating Council for Women Offenders. Amend RSA 21-H:14-c, II(a)(14) to read as follows:

(14) One former inmate of the [state prison] New Hampshire correctional facility for women who is no longer under correctional supervision, appointed by the governor.

18:3 Care and Custody of Female Prisoners. Amend RSA 622:33-a to read as follows:

622:33-a Care and Custody of Female Prisoners.

I. There is established a state confinement facility for female prisoners which shall be called the New Hampshire [state prison] correctional facility for women.

II. The New Hampshire [state prison] correctional facility for women shall be under the superintendence of a warden. The warden shall serve at the pleasure of the commissioner of corrections and shall be an unclassified employee qualified by education and experience.

III. The operation of the New Hampshire [state prison] correctional facility for women and the inmates confined to the New Hampshire [state prison] correctional facility for women shall be governed by the same laws, rules and regulations which govern the state prisons for men and inmates of the state prisons for men, except as otherwise specified by law.

18:4 Effective Date. This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
