AN ACT allowing motorcycles to pass a vehicle in the same lane or travel between lanes of traffic in certain instances.


ANALYSIS

This bill allows motorcycles to pass a vehicle in the same lane or travel between lanes of traffic when traffic is stopped or traveling less than 10 miles per hour.

STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Sixteen

AN ACT allowing motorcycles to pass a vehicle in the same lane or travel between lanes of traffic in certain instances.

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

1 Rules of the Road; Motorcycles. Amend RSA 265:121, II-III to read as follows:

II. The driver of a motorcycle [shall not] may overtake and pass a vehicle in the same lane [occupied by] only if the vehicle being overtaken is stopped or traveling at less than 10 miles per hour.

III. No person shall drive a motorcycle on a roadway between lanes of traffic or between adjacent lines or rows of vehicles unless the traffic or rows of vehicles are stopped or traveling at less than 10 miles per hour.

2 Effective Date. This act shall take effect January 1, 2017.
