HOUSE BILL 1689

AN ACT relative to operator requirements under the meals and rooms tax.


ANALYSIS

This bill requires an operator under the meals and rooms tax who rents rooms in a hotel or hotels with more than one physical address under a single license to provide the department of revenue administration with a schedule of the physical address of each hotel.

This bill is a request of the committee to study short-term rentals by homeowners and owners of residential properties, established by 2015, 197 (HB 531).

STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Sixteen

AN ACT relative to operator requirements under the meals and rooms tax.

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

1 New Paragraph; Meals and Rooms Tax; Operator Requirements. Amend RSA 78-A:8 by inserting after paragraph I the following new paragraph:

I-a. An operator who rents rooms in a hotel or hotels with more than one physical address under a single license shall provide the department of revenue administration with a schedule of the physical address of each hotel.

2 Meals and Rooms Licenses Required; Schedules; Public Records. Amend RSA 78-A:4, IV to read as follows:

IV. Licenses, operator information displayed on licenses, schedules provided pursuant to RSA 78-A:8, I-a, and license dispositions, such as issuance, renewal, suspension, and revocation, shall be public records.

3 Effective Date. This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
