HOUSE BILL 495

AN ACT relative to amendments to warrant articles.


ANALYSIS

This bill prohibits the amendment of petitioned warrant articles.

This bill also deletes the requirement that a petitioned warrant article include a notation of whether or not the article is recommended by the governing body or the budget committee.

STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Seventeen

AN ACT relative to amendments to warrant articles.

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

1 New Subparagraph; Use of Official Ballot. Amend RSA 40:13, IV by inserting after subparagraph (c) the following new subparagraph:

(d) Petitioned warrant articles shall not be amended.

2 Municipal Budget Law; Budget Preparation. Amend the introductory paragraph of RSA 32:5, V to read as follows:

V. When any purpose of appropriation, submitted by a governing body [or by petition], appears in the warrant as part of a special warrant article:

3 Effective Date. This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
