AN ACT relative to automobile insurance cancellation.


ANALYSIS

This bill declares that failure to sign the New Hampshire residency form shall not be a sufficient reason to cancel an insurance policy.

This bill is a request of the insurance department.

STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Seventeen

AN ACT relative to automobile insurance cancellation.

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

1 Automobile Insurance; Cancellation; Grounds. Amend RSA 417-A:4, IV to read as follows:

IV. [Failure to sign the New Hampshire residency form as required by RSA 417-A:3-b] The insurer has determined that the insured:

(a) Falsely attested to the statement required in RSA 417-A:3-b at the time such policy was issued or renewed; or

(b) Does not meet the definition of residency adopted by the commissioner pursuant to RSA 412:43, II.

2 Effective Date. This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
