AN ACT enabling the department of health and human services to contract with certain certified physicians.


AMENDED ANALYSIS

This bill authorizes the commissioner of the department of health and human services to contract with one or more physicians who are certified by an accredited addiction medicine or addiction psychiatry certifying body to review medication assisted treatment in New Hampshire.

STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Eighteen

AN ACT enabling the department of health and human services to contract with certain certified physicians.

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

278:1 New Paragraph; Consultants to Review Medication Assisted Treatment. Amend RSA 126-A:5 by inserting after paragraph XXX the following new paragraph:

XXXI. The commissioner may enter into a contract or contracts with one or more physicians who are certified by an accredited addiction medicine or addiction psychiatry certifying body. The physician or physicians shall provide consultation and guidance to the department related to designing, updating, and monitoring practices and policies regarding medication assisted treatment and related treatments for substance use disorders in New Hampshire.

278:2 Contingency. If HB 1104-FN of the 2018 regular legislative session becomes law, RSA 126-A:5, XXXI as inserted by section 16 of that act shall be renumbered as RSA 126-A:5, XXXII.

278:3 Effective Date. This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
