SENATE BILL 250-FN

AN ACT relative to forgery of a certificate of insurance.


AMENDED ANALYSIS

This bill establishes a class A misdemeanor for forgery involving a fake or counterfeit certificate of insurance and increases the statute of limitations for such offenses to 2 years.

This bill is a request of the insurance department.

STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Nineteen

AN ACT relative to forgery of a certificate of insurance.

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

281:1 New Paragraph; Forgery and Fraudulent Practices Generally. Amend RSA 638:1 by inserting after paragraph III the following new paragraph:

III-a. Forgery is a class A misdemeanor if the writing is or purports to be a fake or counterfeit certificate of insurance.

281:2 New Subparagraph; Limitations. Amend RSA 625:8, I by inserting after subparagraph (e) the following new subparagraph:

(f) For an offense defined in RSA 638:1, III-a, 2 years.

281:3 Effective Date. This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
