HOUSE BILL 1137

AN ACT relative to the definition of "excessive speeding."


ANALYSIS

This bill amends the definition of "excessive speeding" for purposes of the definition of "serious traffic violation" to include traveling at a rate that is 10 miles per hour over the speed limit, or 5 miles per hour over the limit where the speed limit is 70 miles per hour.

STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Twenty

AN ACT relative to the definition of "excessive speeding."

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

1 Motor Vehicles; Serious Traffic Violation; Excessive Speeding. Amend RSA 259:98-a, I to read as follows:

I. Excessive speeding, which means traveling at a rate that is [15] 10 miles per hour or more above the speed limit, or 5 miles per hour or more above the speed limit where the speed limit is 70 miles per hour;

2 Effective Date. This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
