STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE
In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Twenty
AN ACT prohibiting conditioning of employment or student enrollment on approved housing.
Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:
1 New Chapter; Employment or Enrollment Conditioned on Housing. Amend RSA by inserting after chapter 357-G the following new chapter:
CHAPTER 357-H
EMPLOYMENT OR ENROLLMENT CONDITIONED ON HOUSING
357-H:1 Employment or Enrollment Conditioned on Housing Prohibited.
I. No employer shall make continued employment conditioned on:
(a) The purchase or rental of housing from an approved seller or landlord; or
(b) The avoidance of certain unapproved sellers or landlords for the purchase or rental of housing.
II. No postsecondary educational institution shall make continued enrollment conditioned on:
(a) The purchase or rental of housing from an approved seller or landlord; or
(b) The avoidance of certain unapproved sellers or landlords for the purchase or rental of housing.
III. Violation of this chapter shall be considered a violation of RSA 356:2 and RSA 358-A and the violator shall be liable for the penalties in those sections.
2 Effective Date. This act shall take effect 90 days after its passage.
