HOUSE RESOLUTION No. 17 Honoring Victims of Racial Violence.

WHEREAS, the New Hampshire House of Representatives has witnessed with great sorrow and distress the deaths of George Floyd in Minneapolis Minnesota, and the thousands more black women, men, and children whose lives have been taken through acts of racial violence; and,

WHEREAS, all Americans are entitled to live, work, worship, be educated, and play free from danger; and

WHEREAS, the racial discriminations and biases of our American past and present are dangerous, antithetical to our American ideals and a threat to our way of life; and

WHEREAS, we acknowledge the trauma of unaddressed racially discriminatory policies and practices have brought our nation to another boiling point; and

WHEREAS, the New Hampshire House has a long-standing history of affirming its support for communities, states and nations throughout the world, especially in times of distress; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, that the New Hampshire House of Representatives mourns and honors the victims of racial violence, offers its condolences to the families of the victims, and grieves with our communities; and be it further

RESOLVED, that the House of Representatives in regular session convened, stands with all Americans in opposition to racial violence in all its forms; physical, verbal, educational, financial and offers its support, love, and commitment to address these issues of systemic racism with difficult and necessary reflection, conversation and policy initiatives.
