STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Twenty Three

AN ACT relative to equal access to marriage.

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

23:1 Short Title. This act shall be known as the "Marital Freedom Act."

23:2 Equal Access to Marriage; Regardless of Race. Amend RSA 457:1-a to read as follows:

457:1-a Equal Access to Marriage. Marriage is the legally recognized union of 2 people. Any person who otherwise meets the eligibility requirements of this chapter may marry any other eligible person regardless of gender or race. Each party to a marriage shall be designated "bride," "groom," or "spouse."

23:3 Effective Date. This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
