AN ACT relative to the organization of cooperative school boards.

STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Twenty Three

AN ACT relative to the organization of cooperative school boards.

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

1 New Paragraphs; Cooperative School District Boards; Duties; Officers and Locations. Amend RSA 195:5 by inserting after paragraph II the following new paragraphs:

III. After appointment or election the school board shall promptly organize and choose a chairperson, vice-chairperson, and secretary. In consecutive years, the chairperson shall not be from the same pre-existing district, unless all school board members are from the same pre-existing district or there is not a school board member from a different pre-existing district willing to become chairperson.

IV. The location of regular or announced meetings of the school board shall rotate among all of the pre-existing districts when school or municipal facilities are available. This requirement shall not apply if all members unanimously agree that holding meetings in the same location is acceptable.

2 Effective Date. This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
