STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE
In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Twenty Four
AN ACT relative to information on student placement based on achievement of course competencies.
Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:
1 New Paragraph; Pupil Assessment Information. Amend RSA 193-C:12 by inserting after paragraph IV the following new paragraph:
V. The student handbook for all primary and secondary public schools shall contain the method by which a student is placed in a course based on achievement of the competencies contained within the course, as well as the method for being placed in a different level course. For grades 7-12 this shall include the method for being awarded course credit and being eligible to take another course when the student demonstrates knowledge and skills on an assessment approved by the local school district for the particular course, or on an assessment approved by the department if the local school district has not developed an assessment.
2 Effective Date. This act shall take effect July 1, 2024.
