STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE
In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Twenty Four
AN ACT relative to attorney general's duties concerning legislators residing in different districts than they represent.
Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:
1 New Section; Attorney General; Probable Cause. Amend RSA 14 by inserting after section 29 the following new section:
14:29-a Attorney General; Probable Cause. When the attorney general has probable cause to believe that a member of the legislature has ceased to be resident in the district they are representing, the attorney general shall immediately notify the presiding officer, the minority leader, and the clerk of the relevant chamber of such fact. The attorney general shall not be compelled to provide details of any ongoing criminal investigation beyond the issue of residency.
2 Effective Date. This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
