STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE
In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Twenty Four
AN ACT relative to education and training standards for voluntarily certified heating equipment installers and heating equipment service personnel.
Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:
1 Short Title. This act may be known as and cited to as "Catherine's Law".
2 Certification of Heating Equipment Installers; Certification of Heating Equipment Installers and Heating Equipment Service Personnel; Penalty. Amend RSA 153:16-b, II to read as follows:
II. The mechanical licensing board with the approval of the executive director of the office of professional licensure and certification shall adopt rules, pursuant to RSA 541-A, relative to the establishment of [minimum] education and training standards for voluntarily certified heating equipment installers and heating equipment service personnel, which, at minimum, shall require that applicants for certification provide evidence of 2,000 hours or more of field experience at the time of initial certification and no less than every 4 years thereafter at the time of renewal of certification. Such evidence shall consist of:
(a) Proof of current licensure in good standing for heating installation and servicing from another state or regulatory board; or
(b) Successful completion of the current gold or silver level National Oilheat Research Alliance ("NORA") technician certification program, or an equivalent training program, including passage of the examination.
3 Effective Date. This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
