AN ACT relative to legal services by paraprofessionals.


AMENDED ANALYSIS

This bill extends the paraprofessional pilot program by 5 years and extends it to all courts. It further changes the report due on the program from the supreme court by January 1, 2025 to an interim report, and requires a final report by January 1, 2029.

STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Twenty Four

AN ACT relative to legal services by paraprofessionals.

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

82:1 Attorneys and Counselors; Legal Services by Paraprofessionals; Report; Supreme Court. Amend 2022, 194:3 to read as follows:

194:3 Report; Supreme Court. The supreme court shall provide [a] an interim report regarding the efficacy of the pilot program in this act to the senate president, the speaker of the house of representatives, the house minority leader, and the senate minority leader no later than January 1, 2025. The supreme court shall also provide a final report regarding the efficacy of the pilot program in this act to the senate president, the speaker of the house of representatives, the house minority leader, and the senate minority leader no later than January 1, 2029.

82:2 Attorneys and Counselors; Legal Services by Paraprofessionals; Prospective Repeal. Amend 2022, 194:4, I to read as follows:

I. Section 2 of this act shall take effect January 1, [2025] 2030.

82:3 Repeal. RSA 311:2-a, II, relative to restricting paraprofessional representation to certain courts, is repealed.

82:4 Effective Date. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
